The block-shaped Chief Mountain is an easily recognizable and dominant landscape feature in many of the photographs in this gallery. Chief Mountain (Blackfoot -Ninaistako), at 9,085 feet (2,769 m), is located in Montana. The mountain is one of the most prominent peaks in the surrounding landscape along the Rocky Mountain Front. The minor peak immediately to the left of it is NiNaki (Blackfoot name); then larger in size, and further to the left and in the background, is Gable Mountain. On the far left is Yellow Mountain - East. All peaks are situated within Glacier National Park. Chief Mountain straddles the park boundary along the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. Chief Mountain's north face is also highly visible in southwestern Alberta and is a dominant landscape feature when looking towards the south.
